This morning’s breastfeeding challenge in Citywest…
Hi there!
We’re just back from Citywest this minute and Little M is panned out after all the running around and playing he did!
Thanks to Friends of Breastfeeding for organizing the Irish part of the event.
Tonnes (it seemed…the actual number will be announced soon I hope) of families turned up to take part in the challenge, which was to get as many breastfeeding pairs together and feed simultaneously to promote and raise awareness of breastfeeding.
The same event took place in Bermuda, Cambodia, Canada, China Cyprus, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Moldova, The Netherlands, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Ukraine and The USA at 11am! How exciting to have been at a Worldwide event, down the road!

A picture of the 2010 challenge in Bermuda! Thankfully the Irish event was indoors as we had torrential rain!!!
There were a few lovely stalls, free homemade treats (yumyumyum) and coffee, goodie bags, face-painting, speakers (who kept it short, thank you!), media, breastfeeding group representatives, mothers, fathers, grandparents and of COURSE babies, toddlers and older children. It was fun and there was a fantastic atmosphere!
Each pair (and plenty of trios!) registered so it will be exciting to hear the results! They can be found here as they are coming in.
Let me know if you were at an event!

Hello,
I had never heard about this Challenge until the night before this year’s event. I heard it announced on a local radio station. I asked my husband, “what kind of challenge”? I had heard right, and thought I definitely wanted to participate! What an awesome event!
So, me and my little Mister ventured to the local gathering and it was awesome to see so many people supporting breastfeeding! We beat the city’s record of breastfeeding pairs by 1 additional pair!
Just thought I would say hello, I found your blog the other night. and one of your posted could have been written by me about my little Mister…it’s great to know others experience the same things, and you are not alone in this parenting experience.
Thanks for the comment Lesley! That’s great you enjoyed the event too. So cool that you beat the record by one pair! Bet everyone was delighted they attended : )
